Their story began the way many modern love stories do: with a conversation that refused to end.

After evening college classes, Katelynn and Brandon would often leave campus at the same time. What started as casual conversations quickly became something they both looked forward to. Before long, Brandon found Katelynn on Facebook, where one message turned into many.

At one point, Katelynn jokingly told him he was wasting her phone data and should just ask for her number already.

So he did.

They started texting.

Brandon still laughs that once they had each other’s numbers, Katelynn suddenly became much harder to get a reply from.

Neither of them could have known that those conversations would become the beginning of a life together.

Building a Life Together

Life doesn’t always follow the timeline you imagine.

Just seven months into dating, Katelynn and Brandon learned they were expecting their daughter, Maci. It wasn’t the path they had planned, but it quickly became the one they embraced.

They welcomed their daughter, bought their first home, and began building a life together. A few years later, they sold that house and moved into the home they still share today. Their family has since grown again with the arrival of their son, whose energy keeps everyone on their toes right alongside his big sister.

Like any couple who has spent a decade together, they’ve faced their share of challenges. Some seasons were easier than others, but each one taught them something. They’ve learned when to listen, when to compromise, and when to simply keep moving forward together.

As Katelynn puts it, they’ve learned, accepted, and kept moving forward.

Ten years later, they’re still choosing each other.

A Proposal Worth Waiting For

By the summer of 2019, Katelynn had a feeling a proposal wasn’t too far away.

The two had gone ring shopping together, and Brandon had secretly purchased the one she’d chosen just a few days later. He handed it off to his mom for safekeeping.

The paperwork, though, accidentally stayed behind in the glove box.

She knew a proposal was coming.

She just didn’t know when.

Or where.

While spending time with Brandon’s family at Great Wolf Lodge in Niagara Falls, they decided to spend an evening together, trying their luck at the casino before taking a walk down to the falls.

The casino wasn’t particularly lucky.

The walk, however, changed everything.

With the engagement ring tucked safely inside his wallet, Brandon led Katelynn a little farther down the path until they found a quieter spot away from the crowds. Standing together in front of the illuminated falls, he took both of her hands, said everything he’d been waiting to say, and got down on one knee.

She said yes.

On the walk back, they came across a set of “Marry Me” balloons left behind from another proposal earlier that evening. It felt like the perfect way to end an already unforgettable night, so naturally they stopped for a few photos before heading back.

More Than an Engagement

One of the things we love most about engagement sessions is that they celebrate more than what’s ahead.

They celebrate everything that’s already been built.

For Katelynn and Brandon, that means remembering the conversations that started it all, the first home they shared, becoming parents, weathering life’s unexpected turns, and finding happiness in the everyday moments that often mean the most.

Those experiences are part of who they are as a couple. They’re also what make their story uniquely theirs.

Looking Ahead

Every couple arrives at their wedding day with a story only they could tell.

For Katelynn and Brandon, it began with a conversation after class and grew into a decade filled with family, new beginnings, and memories they’ll carry for a lifetime.

Now they’re looking ahead to the next chapter.

We’re honoured to be the ones helping tell it in 2027.
