Reaching out to a wedding photographer is an exciting step in the planning process, but many couples aren’t sure what happens next. Understanding the wedding photographer inquiry process helps you feel confident, prepared, and supported from the very first message. Once your date is set and your vision is taking shape, knowing how the process works makes choosing the right photographer much easier
In fact, many couples tell us they feel unsure after sending an inquiry. Will you hear back right away? Do you need to make decisions immediately? And what actually happens during a consultation?
Because of this, we’ve designed our process to remove uncertainty and create clarity from the very beginning. From first contact through final delivery, we focus on providing an experience that feels steady, supportive, and well paced.
Step One in Our Wedding Photographer Inquiry Process: Confirming Availability
First, once we receive your inquiry, we confirm availability for your wedding date and location. This step allows us to ensure we can fully commit to your day before moving forward.
Availability matters because wedding photography involves far more than showing up for a few hours. It requires preparation, presence, and genuine investment in your experience. By confirming availability first, we can give every couple the care and attention they deserve. You can reach out via email (hello@thatphotographercouple), text or DM
After we confirm availability, you’ll hear back from us with clear next steps. As a result, there’s no waiting and no guessing.
Step Two of the Wedding Photographer Inquiry Process: Booking Your Connection Call
Next, after confirming availability, you’ll receive an invitation to book a connection call using our scheduling link. This gives you full control to choose a time that works best for you, whether you prefer a Zoom call or an in-person meeting.
Additionally, there’s no back-and-forth scheduling and no pressure to move forward. At this stage, the goal is simple: to connect.
This call isn’t a sales pitch. Instead, it’s a conversation.
Step Three in the Wedding Photographer Inquiry Process: The Connection Call
During the connection call, we focus on creating a comfortable and open space. We talk through your plans, your priorities, and what matters most to you on your wedding day. At the same time, we answer your questions, explain how we work, and outline what you can expect if you decide to move forward.
We believe confidence comes from clarity, not urgency. Therefore, we never rush decisions or push options that don’t fit your needs. Our role is to guide you, not pressure you.
Just as importantly, this conversation helps both sides determine if we’re the right fit. A strong photographer-client relationship depends on trust, communication, and shared expectations.

Step Four: A Thoughtfully Built Proposal
Finally, if everything feels aligned after the call, we create a proposal tailored to what you shared. This includes coverage options, timelines, and any additional services that make sense for your wedding day.
You’ll have time to review everything at your own pace. Because the details are clear and the pricing is transparent, you can move forward with confidence, knowing exactly what’s included and how the process works.
Why Our Process Matters
A calm, organized process sets the tone for the entire wedding experience. When couples feel informed and supported early on, planning becomes less stressful and more enjoyable. As a result, you can focus on what truly matters: celebrating your story.
From the initial inquiry through the wedding day and beyond, our goal is to create an experience that feels thoughtful, personal, and steady. Ultimately, a clear process isn’t just about logistics. It’s about building trust and making space for meaningful moments.
If you’re ready to take the next step in the wedding photographer inquiry process, we’d love to connect and learn more about your plans.
